Written Studbook, Database or Both?

Many  breeders and producers have expressed their concerns about the absence of a written studbook----apparently, [Irish Field, Saturday July 27th, Page A56, Report on Ballyconneely Show]

Is the database sufficient/satisfactory? Or should it be replaced or supplemented with an annual studbook update that will have to be sold at a price? Anyone any thoughts on this?

  1. An online database is very useful when you have your computer with you and have online access. However this is not always possible. Plus online is OK for looking up stuff in a hurry but hard copy is for reading, taking/making notes, it is portable and so long as you have sufficient light to read by, always accessible.
Just put a supplement out online in pdf format set up to print as a booklet and then people can print it off if they wish, at no expense to the societies.
